Senior Protein Manufacturing Scientist, Biotech & Purification
Overview
Biochemistry and protein purification professional responsible for producing enzymes used in cell therapies at scale. Lead chromatographic purification of target proteins and formulate final product compositions in a GMP environment. Collaborate with Manufacturing Scientists to maintain ISO-9001 standards and batch records. This role offers hands-on purification work, equipment calibration, and cross-functional teamwork within VitaCyte’s Indianapolis facility.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build chromatographic purification workflows for proteins from complex matrices and ensure traceable batch records.
- 2Design and execute fill and dispense procedures for final product formulations.
- 3Guide Manufacturing Scientists in day-to-day operations and maintain laboratory hygiene to protect product integrity.
- 4Calibrate, qualify, and clean manufacturing equipment and instruments used in protein purification.
- 5Document all actions with precision and maintain ISO-9001 compliance by following established procedures.
- 6Provide direction to the manufacturing team to meet production targets and quality standards.
- 7Support continuous improvement by identifying process trends and potential optimizations.
- 8Partner with quality and engineering teams to safeguard product quality and regulatory readiness.
- 9Maintain proficiency with Akta instrumentation and related purification techniques.
- 10Ensure accurate data collection and reporting using Microsoft Excel and related tools.
Requirements10
- 1BA/BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or Biotechnology
- 2≥ 3 years direct experience purifying proteins incorporated into commercial products using Akta instrumentation
- 3Experience preparing biological buffers and samples for protein purification from complex matrices
- 4Experience chromatographically purifying target proteins and processing downstream material
- 5Demonstrated proficiency with relevant advanced biochemistry laboratory skills
- 6Detail oriented with strong documentation practices for batch records
- 7Strong problem solving skills and ability to articulate solutions clearly
- 8Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- 9Ability to work onsite in Indianapolis and maintain appropriate manufacturing hygiene
- 10Team oriented with strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively
