School Occupational Therapist, Michigan Schools
Overview
You will own occupational therapy services for K-12 students across a supportive Michigan school district for the 2026-2027 school year. You will assess, plan, and deliver individualized interventions that help students succeed in their educational environment. You will collaborate with teachers, parents, and specialists on a full-time, 35-hour weekly schedule. This role offers the chance to impact student outcomes in a dedicated, team-based setting.
What You'll Do8
- 1Assess students' fine motor, sensory, and self-care skills to develop tailored therapy plans
- 2Deliver direct OT services in classroom and pull-out settings, focusing on functional goals
- 3Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate therapy strategies into daily routines
- 4Document student progress and adjust plans based on data and team input
- 5Train aides and parents on carryover techniques for home and school
- 6Participate in IEP meetings to align OT goals with educational outcomes
- 7Manage a caseload of students with diverse needs, from mild to severe
- 8Drive student independence through adaptive equipment recommendations
Requirements5
- 1Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy
- 2Active Michigan OT license (or able to obtain before start date)
- 3Previous school-based or pediatric experience preferred, not required
- 4Strong communication and collaboration skills
- 5Ability to work onsite in a school district in Michigan
