RN Adult Psychiatry Traveler, Research Psychiatric Center Kansas City
Overview
RN role focusing on adult psychiatry across multiple units with varying acuity at Research Psychiatric Center in Kansas City MO. You will assess mental health status, develop care plans, administer medications, and provide crisis intervention on a schedule that includes three 12-hour shifts daily seven days a week. What You'll Do10
- 1Build comprehensive patient assessments to identify psychiatric, substance use, and behavioral concerns
- 2Design individualized care plans with goals, interventions, and outcome evaluation for mental health patients
- 3Administer and monitor psychiatric medications, track side effects and adverse reactions
- 4Provide immediate crisis intervention using de-escalation techniques and appropriate pharmacologic management
- 5Demonstrate therapeutic communication to establish trust, empathy, and patient engagement
- 6Monitor physical and psychological symptoms, vital signs, mental status, and medication effects
- 7Maintain documentation in Meditech and ensure accurate patient histories and progress notes
- 8Coordinate with unit teams (ADOL, Serenity, ITU, SRAD, VINE) for appropriate patient placement and transfers
- 9Adhere to BLS CPI certification requirements and unit guidelines
- 10Support patient experience initiatives by communicating clearly with patients and families
Requirements10
- 1Active RN license
- 2Active Blue Card CPI certification
- 3BLS certification required
- 4Ability to assess patients' mental health status and develop care plans
- 5Experience with medication management in psychiatric settings
- 6Crisis Intervention skills with de-escalation techniques
- 7Strong therapeutic communication and empathy skills
- 8Knowledge of psychotropic medications and side effects
- 9Familiarity with Meditech or comparable documentation systems
- 10Willingness to work three 12-hour shifts per day seven days a week including weekends
