QA Proofreader, Trading Cards
Overview
You will own pre-production quality for trading card products across MLB, MLS, UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga, Formula 1, and Star Wars licenses. You will review text and art files, verify revisions, and ensure print readiness. Working with Editorial, Design, and Licensor teams, you will drive compliance and visual integrity. Your eye for detail will shape the final product for thousands of cards. This role demands mastery of U.S. grammar and adaptability to European English formats.
What You'll Do7
- 1Proofread raw sports and entertainment card text for grammar, spelling, house style, and licensor requirements across MLB, MLS, UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga, Formula 1, and Star Wars.
- 2Review Master design files to weigh in on composition and execution during multi-department overviews.
- 3Inspect composed card files for file integrity, design consistency, image quality, text formatting, technical setup, and printing plate registration.
- 4Examine intermediate card proofs to verify that revisions from Quality Assurance, Editorial, Designers, or Licensors have been applied accurately.
- 5Check imposition layouts against subject lists to ensure proper alignment of trading card sheets released to press.
- 6Perform final review of imposed trading card sheets for errors and omissions before release to press.
- 7Inspect packaging art files to confirm accuracy of consumer information based on internal content documents, legal guidelines, and Bills of Materials.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of professional experience in journalism, photography, or the sports and collectibles industry.
- 2Outstanding attention to textual and graphic detail, with the ability to incorporate extensive licensor style guides.
- 3Mastery of U.S. English grammar and adaptability to occasional European English formats.
- 4Flexibility to variable styles and requirements of sports properties including MLB, MLS, UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga, and Formula 1, and entertainment properties like Star Wars and Garbage Pail Kids.
- 5Multi-tasking capability to manage assignments across several projects and maintain priorities in a daily workflow.
- 6Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- 7Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, web browser-based interfaces, and Macintosh OS.
- 8In-depth interest and knowledge of sports and entertainment.
- 9Onsite work required at the Dallas, Texas location.
