Overview

Own the IEP and curriculum coordination for a Brooklyn preschool serving neurodiverse students, impacting 80+ children and 15+ staff. You will work directly with the principal and classroom teams, ensuring compliance with SED and DOE regulations. This role includes certified coverage for vacancies and leaves. You will bring School Based Leader (SBL) certification and 5+ years teaching experience to shape instructional quality. This is a 10-month calendar with a 30-day summer session.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Provide certified classroom coverage during staff vacancies and leaves, stepping in as needed to maintain instructional continuity.
  • 2Coordinate IEP development and review, ensuring goals are current and appropriate per SED timelines and DOE contracts.
  • 3Act as liaison with CSE teams for students requiring special education programs, attending all relevant meetings.
  • 4Conduct student observations and assessments to support placement in the least restrictive environment.
  • 5Review outside evaluations and developmental profiles to ensure placement recommendations are accurate and consistent.
  • 6Monitor educational programming, collect progress reports, and update IEPs for annual reviews within required deadlines.
  • 7Lead curriculum development aligned with NYS Prekindergarten Foundation and Common Core standards, using authentic assessment data.
  • 8Train and coach teaching staff in effective instructional practices through workshops and direct classroom support.
  • 9Collaborate with the principal to adapt curricula and materials that advance school readiness and academic goals.

Requirements8

  • 1School Based Leader (SBL) Certification required, or in progress.
  • 2SWD Birth-Grade 2 Certification required.
  • 35+ years experience as a teacher of students with disabilities.
  • 4Experience with IEP development and compliance with SED regulations.
  • 5Knowledge of NYS Prekindergarten Foundation for the Common Core.
  • 6Experience conducting student observations and assessments.
  • 7Strong classroom management and instructional coaching skills.
  • 8Ability to work collaboratively with principals, staff, and CSE teams.
