Overview
As Principal Software Engineer, you own multiple Java applications at Marlabs LLC, delivering production code changes that drive business outcomes. You partner with the Business Systems Manager and Business Analyst to plan and execute releases, keeping teams on schedule. You bring 10+ years of software engineering expertise to bridge client needs with AWS infrastructure. This role demands onsite presence in Irving, TX three days a week, with a mandatory face-to-face interview.
What You'll Do8
- 1Own delivery of code changes to production for multiple Java applications, aligning with the Business Systems Manager and Business Analyst on scope and timeline.
- 2Design and implement scalable microservices on AWS, ensuring high availability and performance.
- 3Drive technical decisions for Spring Boot and Kafka integrations, balancing business requirements with engineering best practices.
- 4Lead code reviews and refactoring efforts to eliminate technical debt in Hibernate and REST APIs.
- 5Coordinate with vendors and IT resources to resolve production incidents, reducing downtime and meeting SLAs.
- 6Mentor junior engineers on CI/CD pipelines and Docker containerization, raising team velocity.
- 7Collaborate with clients to translate requirements into technical designs, delivering 2-3 major features per quarter.
- 8Establish monitoring and alerting with CloudWatch and New Relic, improving system observability.
Requirements8
- 110+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years in a principal or lead role.
- 2Java and Spring Boot expertise, including Hibernate and REST API development.
- 3Hands-on AWS experience with EC2, S3, Lambda, and CloudFormation.
- 4Kafka or similar event streaming platforms in production environments.
- 5Strong SQL and PostgreSQL or MySQL database design skills.
- 6Experience with Git, Jenkins, and Docker in a CI/CD workflow.
- 7Familiarity with Angular or React for frontend integration.
- 8Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
