Principal Network Engineer Votaw Precision Technologies
Overview
Design and deliver the platform network across all Vela sites including new facility standups establishing network segmentation and isolation of shop-floor OT from enterprise IT meeting CMMC Level 2 requirements. Remediate site connectivity problems assess reliability issues evaluate options including satellite Starlink proposals before adoption. Own boundary protection using next-generation firewalls and secure remote access. Partner with cloud engineering to secure connectivity between on-prem sites and AWS GovCloud. Establish visibility through network monitoring and documentation serving as CMMC audit evidence. Sustain reliability supporting 24/7 manufacturing operations. Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior network engineers. This is the senior technical owner of Vela’s network.
What You'll Do11
- 1Design and deliver the platform network across all Vela sites including new facility standups LAN WAN SD-WAN firewalls switching wireless
- 2Establish network segmentation and isolation of shop-floor OT from enterprise IT in line with CMMC Level 2 NIST SP 800-171 and Purdue-model architecture
- 3Remediate site connectivity problems assess current-state connectivity resolve reliability issues evaluate options including satellite Starlink proposals against ITAR/CUI data-handling requirements
- 4Stand up new facilities with standardized repeatable network architecture supporting fast acquisition-integration playbook
- 5Own boundary protection next-generation firewalls and secure remote access including jump bastion hosts into controlled environments
- 6Partner with cloud engineering to secure connectivity between on-prem sites and AWS GovCloud Direct Connect VPN
- 7Establish foundational network services including plant-floor wireless core services DNS DHCP IPAM load balancing site-to-site VPN
- 8Stand up network monitoring and maintenance current network documentation and diagrams serving as CMMC audit evidence
- 9Sustain reliability supporting 24/7 manufacturing operations including participation in escalation on-call rotation
- 10Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior network engineers as team grows
- 11Maintain 99.9%+ network availability supporting 24/7 manufacturing operations
Requirements11
- 1Qualifications and Skills 10+ years of network engineering experience including multi-site enterprise networks
- 2Deep hands-on expertise with enterprise routing switching and next-generation firewalls Cisco Juniper Arista Palo Alto Fortinet or similar
- 3Proven experience designing segmented networks and OT/IT separation in manufacturing industrial or regulated environments
- 4Working knowledge of network security controls boundary protection segmentation and encryption in transit NIST SP 800-171 CMMC familiarity a plus
- 5Strong command of core network services DNS DHCP IPAM load balancing VPN at scale and network monitoring
- 6Experience standing up network infrastructure for new facilities from the ground up
- 7Preferred Qualifications Aerospace defense or precision-manufacturing experience Hands-on OT/ICS networking Purdue model experience with industrial plant-floor wireless and ruggedized environments
- 8Relevant certifications a plus CCNP CCIE JNCIP PCNSE or equivalent
- 9Education and Experience Bachelor's in a technical field or equivalent hands-on experience
- 10Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
- 11Highly self-motivated and directed keen attention to detail ability to prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure environment
Salary Insight
$135 - $165k per year
