Pet Care Supervisor at Pet Care Plus leads shifts for a hands-on pet care team in Chicago. Youll spend time directly caring for pets while guiding the team and communicating with management. This role combines frontline pet care with leadership to maintain safety, sanitation, and compassionate care standards.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead the shift and assign responsibilities to Pet Techs during scheduled hours
- 2Monitor workflow, staffing coverage, breaks, and shift transitions
- 3Provide real-time coaching and support to teammates
- 4Train new Pet Techs and complete opening and closing duties
- 5Maintain safe daycare playgroups, monitor dog behavior, and follow care instructions
- 6Document pet-care updates, incidents, and concerns accurately
- 7Ensure sanitation, cleanliness, and organization of kennels, playrooms, kitchens, and common areas
- 8Label and store food, medications, and supplies correctly
- 9Identify and report safety, sanitation, inventory, or maintenance concerns
- 10Collaborate with team to complete cleaning and animal-care duties as needed
Requirements10
- 1At least 1 year of professional pet-care or related experience
- 2Previous shift-lead or supervisory experience preferred
- 3Strong understanding of dog behavior and safe group play
- 4Ability to give clear direction and respectful feedback
- 5Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- 6Ability to stay calm and use sound judgment in unexpected situations
- 7Reliable, punctual, organized, and team-oriented
- 8Comfortable with hands-on animal-care and cleaning tasks
- 9Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds
- 10Willingness to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
