Patient Care Technician Job in Phoenix, AZ - DaVita
Overview
You will own direct patient care for end-stage renal disease patients in an outpatient dialysis clinic, managing up to 12 patients per shift. Under RN supervision, you will deliver dialysis treatment, monitor vitals, and operate dialysis equipment. Collaborate with nurses, dietitians, and social workers on care plans. What You'll Do8
- 1Deliver safe, hygienic dialysis care to patients with end-stage renal disease, including setup and monitoring of dialysis machines.
- 2Monitor patients before, during, and after treatment, recording vital signs and fluid balance in electronic medical records.
- 3Educate patients on kidney health, treatment procedures, and home care practices.
- 4Collaborate with the care team—nurses, dietitians, social workers—to adjust care plans based on patient response.
- 5Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control protocols, including proper handling of blood and needles.
- 6Respond to patient emergencies and escalate to RNs as needed, ensuring patient safety at all times.
- 7Float to nearby clinics within a 30-mile radius to cover staffing needs, adapting to different team dynamics.
- 8Document patient data accurately in DaVita’s system, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements7
- 1High school diploma or GED required.
- 2Comfortable around blood, needles, and medical equipment, with no aversion to needles.
- 3Physically able to stand for long shifts (up to 12 hours) and lift up to 50 pounds.
- 4Willing to float between local clinics as needed, with reliable transportation.
- 5Flexible schedule—able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- 6Preferred: CNA, MA, CHT, phlebotomy certification, or healthcare experience.
- 7Basic computer skills for documenting patient vital signs in electronic health records.
