Part Time Diet Clerk, Hospital Food Service
Overview
You will own patient meal ordering and dietary accuracy at Bryn Mawr Hospital, serving 100+ patients per shift. You will coordinate with the Food Services Team and nursing staff to ensure each meal matches the prescribed therapeutic diet. This part-time role offers predictable 3pm-7pm shifts and a better work-life balance. You will also gain experience with electronic medical records systems and qualify for tuition reimbursement up to $6,000 per year.
What You'll Do8
- 1Take patient meal orders at bedside, using electronic medical records to verify dietary restrictions and preferences
- 2Enter meal selections into the CBORD system, noting any diet changes or allergies
- 3Serve meals on assigned patient units, ensuring correct tray matches the patient and diet
- 4Record food consumption and intake percentages in the computer system after each meal
- 5Communicate diet-related issues to the Clinical Dietitian or nursing staff
- 6Assist with tray line setup and breakdown, maintaining food safety standards
- 7Answer patient questions about menu items and accommodate special requests within diet guidelines
- 8Deliver and retrieve patient trays, following infection control protocols
Requirements4
- 13-5 months of previous food service experience in a healthcare environment, with knowledge of therapeutic diets preferred
- 2Proficiency in keyboarding and using an electronic medical records system
- 3High School Diploma / GED required or attainment within one year of hire
- 4Ability to work 3pm-7pm shifts, 5 days per week, including 3 out of 4 weekends per month
