Drive and execute full-service moving and hauling jobs across the greater Los Angeles area. You own the customer experience from door to door, ensuring every move runs on time and damage-free. College Hunks Hauling Junk pairs you with a two-person team, and you lead the truck, the route, and the loading strategy. This role blends physical work with client interaction, and your daily performance directly impacts tips, customer ratings, and your own growth into a crew leader. You'll operate box trucks, manage cargo securement, and act as the face of a brand that donates two meals to U.S. Hunger for every job completed. It's a front-line operations role where hustle and a positive attitude get you noticed and promoted fast.
What You'll Do9
- 1Safely operate box trucks (small, medium, large) on city routes, navigating tight streets and parking constraints while protecting customer property.
- 2Lead the loading and unloading process for residential and commercial moves, using dollies, straps, and padding to secure items and prevent damage.
- 3Provide a upbeat, stress-free experience for every customer, from the first handshake to the final walkthrough, ensuring their belongings are treated like your own.
- 4Communicate with dispatch and the back-end team to confirm job details, route changes, and any obstacles that delay the schedule.
- 5Complete daily vehicle inspections, log miles and hours, and keep the truck clean and fueled between jobs.
- 6Set up and break down furniture (disassemble beds, desks, and modular pieces) to fit through doorways and stairwells, then reassemble at the destination.
- 7Mentor newer movers on your crew, demonstrating proper lifting techniques, pacing, and customer interaction standards.
- 8Collect payment and tips at job completion, ensuring accurate billing and a positive closing interaction.
- 9Represent the College Hunks brand with a uniform, a smile, and a professional demeanor, following the H.U.N.K.S. code of conduct.
Requirements10
- 1Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to pass a DOT physical if required.
- 21+ year of professional driving experience, including box trucks up to 26 feet, with a focus on urban delivery or moving.
- 3Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs. repeatedly, climb stairs, and balance while moving furniture through tight spaces.
- 4High school diploma or GED preferred, but equivalent work experience accepted.
- 5Background check and drug screen clearance as a condition of employment.
- 6U.S. work authorization and the ability to read and write English for paperwork and safety instructions.
- 7Strong customer service skills with a track record of de-escalating stressful situations and maintaining a friendly tone.
- 8Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot simple issues like loading ramp positioning or securing a load with ratchet straps.
- 9Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and occasional holidays to match peak moving demand.
- 10Previous labor or customer-facing experience in moving, delivery, warehouse, construction, or retail is a plus, but not required.
