Med Tech and Caregiver Job in Tampa | Heron House
Overview
You will own medication administration and resident care at Heron House at Largo, serving 3-11 shifts in a 100+ resident community. You'll partner with a clinical team to ensure safety and dignity, charting every dose and observing changes. This role stands out for its dual focus on med tech and caregiver duties, requiring CNA certification. You'll build trust with families and physicians while maintaining a clean, hazard-free environment.
What You'll Do9
- 1Administer scheduled and as-needed medications, staying with each resident until consumed, then chart immediately in the Medication Administration Record.
- 2Maintain medication carts and room: stock supplies, wipe down daily, and lock narcotics per protocol until pharmacy pickup.
- 3Reorder medications from pharmacy at least 7 days before supply runs out, documenting receipt and storage.
- 4Record vital signs as ordered (monthly or daily) and report abnormal readings to the supervisor or Executive Director.
- 5Document unusual incidents in Progress Notes and the Communication Log, giving a verbal handoff to the on-coming aide.
- 6Assist with ADLs including bathing, grooming, toileting, and ambulation, plus escorting residents to dining and activities.
- 7Perform light housekeeping: make beds, hang clothes, empty trash, and keep nursing stations hazard-free.
- 8Answer phones and relay messages when the front desk is unattended, and execute fire safety procedures during emergencies.
- 9Fill out Incident Reports for any resident or staff injury, and immediately report medication errors or adverse reactions.
Requirements9
- 1CNA certification in the state of Florida.
- 21+ year experience as a med tech or caregiver in assisted living or home care.
- 3High school diploma or GED.
- 4Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- 5Current CPR and First Aid certification (or obtain within 30 days).
- 6Completion of Medication Administration training per Florida regulations.
- 7Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and stand for extended shifts.
- 8Strong written and verbal communication for charting and family interactions.
- 9Willingness to work 3-11 shifts, including weekends and holidays.
