Overview
As the Lead AI Engineer, you will own the design and delivery of enterprise-scale AI solutions, directly shaping the technology roadmap for a major client. You will lead a team of AI engineers, driving technical excellence through hands-on development and strategic guidance. Your work will center on implementing Agentic AI, MCP, and RAG architectures to solve complex business problems. This role distinguishes itself by offering a contract position at $65/hr on W2 in San Mateo, CA, where your expertise will define the next generation of AI systems.
What You'll Do8
- 1Lead a team of AI engineers, providing technical direction and mentorship to deliver enterprise AI solutions on time.
- 2Design scalable Agentic AI architectures that automate decision-making processes across core business functions.
- 3Build robust RAG pipelines that integrate with enterprise knowledge bases to enable accurate and context-aware responses.
- 4Implement MCP servers to enable secure and efficient communication between AI agents and external tools.
- 5Drive the adoption of best practices in Generative AI development, including model evaluation, prompt engineering, and safety guardrails.
- 6Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deployment strategies.
- 7Mentor junior engineers, conducting code reviews and fostering a culture of innovation and quality.
- 8Deploy AI solutions to production, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability in cloud environments like AWS.
Requirements8
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years focused on Generative AI or Agentic AI.
- 2Proven track record of leading AI engineering teams and delivering production-grade solutions.
- 3Deep expertise in RAG architectures, including vector databases, embedding models, and retrieval strategies.
- 4Hands-on experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar agentic frameworks.
- 5Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch or LangChain.
- 6Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization using Docker.
- 7Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence technical strategy at the executive level.
- 8Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
