Latin Teacher, Middle School Classics
Overview
This role owns Latin instruction for grades 6-8 at Learn And Explore Academy, a Gifted & Talented middle school. You will design lessons that connect Latin to English vocabulary, history, and mythology. The part-time schedule supports a focused teaching load. This position offers a chance to shape classical studies for advanced students.
What You'll Do6
- 1Teach Latin grammar, vocabulary, and translation to students in grades 6-8, adapting to their advanced level.
- 2Develop weekly lesson plans that link Latin roots to English vocabulary and classical texts.
- 3Design engaging activities that explore Roman history, mythology, and literature.
- 4Assess student progress through quizzes and projects, then provide targeted feedback.
- 5Maintain a disciplined yet lively classroom that fosters inquiry and discussion.
- 6Collaborate with faculty to integrate classical studies across the curriculum.
Requirements7
- 1Bachelor's degree in Classics, Latin, Education, or related field
- 21+ years teaching or tutoring Latin
- 3Strong classroom management skills for middle school students
- 4Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- 5Ability to engage academically advanced students
- 6Professional and reliable, with openness to feedback
- 7Must pass required background checks
