IT Security Systems & QA Specialist - IRS
Overview
You will own security and quality assurance for the IRS modernization of over 350 Taxpayer Assistance Centers (TACs), ensuring identity verification and data protection meet federal standards. You will evaluate security controls, privacy risks, and compliance, and design QA/QC processes to mitigate rework. Collaborating with IRS stakeholders, you will translate requirements into testable outcomes, supporting the IRS Strategic Plan with measurable improvements. This role offers direct impact on taxpayer services and access to senior leadership.
What You'll Do9
- 1Assess identity verification processes and data security controls to identify risks and compliance gaps across TAC operations.
- 2Define acceptance criteria and implement QA/QC procedures to ensure deliverables meet IRS standards and QASP requirements.
- 3Design and execute pilot evaluations for technology modernization, validating functionality and security without weakening taxpayer protections.
- 4Conduct systems crosswalks and gap analyses of existing TAC technologies to document the current landscape and governance constraints.
- 5Translate approved modernization recommendations into implementable requirements, ensuring feasibility across existing systems and integrations.
- 6Support all client engagement phases, from strategy definition to final deliverables, with focus on security and quality outcomes.
- 7Develop performance metrics and dashboards in approved environments to monitor security and QA effectiveness in real-time decision-making.
- 8Build client relationships across the IRS account, resolving delivery risks before they escalate.
- 9Derive actionable insights from complex data analysis and present recommendations clearly to diverse stakeholders.
Requirements9
- 110+ years in security, QA, or related domain, with federal consulting experience preferred.
- 2BA/BS required; relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISA, PMP) highly preferred.
- 3Experience supporting the IRS or federal clients, including knowledge of IRS digitalization and TAC operations.
- 4Proven expertise in security controls, privacy risk assessment, and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, FISMA).
- 5Strong experience with QA/QC methodologies, test planning, and UAT execution.
- 6Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools to support reporting and decision-making.
- 7Ability to manage demanding deadlines in a team environment with superior problem-solving skills.
- 8Excellent written and verbal communication, able to synthesize complex ideas for executives.
- 9Demonstrated initiative and ownership over projects, with a passion for continuous improvement.
