FP&A Expert | $2000 One-Time Remote
Overview
This role is part of a project to build a comprehensive library of corporate FP&A work products. You'll receive mock financial files—actuals, driver schedules, and department budgets—and complete self-contained planning exercises, producing deliverables that are evaluated against a rubric. The engagement is fully remote and task-based, offering a one-time payment of $2,000. This is a chance to put your planning and forecasting expertise to work on a variety of real-world scenarios without the commitment of a full-time role.
What You'll Do5
- 1Develop yearly budgets from the ground up and multi-year strategic plans, including consolidation and approval workflows.
- 2Generate rolling reforecasts for the P&L, cash flow, and KPIs that incorporate actual performance and updated business drivers.
- 3Create detailed headcount and capital expenditure plans that factor in hiring timelines, project approval processes, payback periods, and prioritization.
- 4Assemble monthly management reporting packages complete with variance commentary, and perform profitability analyses by product, customer, or segment using cost allocation methodologies.
- 5Project revenue based on bookings, pipeline strength, and demand signals, and clearly document all model drivers and assumptions.
Requirements3
- 1At least 4 years of FP&A experience at an operating company, with direct ownership of a planning or reforecast cycle.
- 2Advanced proficiency in Excel modeling, along with the analytical judgment to explain variances—not just compute them.
- 3Preferred experience in finance business partnering or commercial finance, or hands-on use of planning platforms like Anaplan, Adaptive Planning, or Pigment.
Who Should Apply
You're a finance professional who thrives on the mechanics of planning and forecasting—building models from scratch, digging into driver-based assumptions, and turning complex data into clear, decision-ready reporting. You have a strong grasp of the full FP&A toolkit, from budgets to long-range plans, and you can communicate the story behind the numbers with confidence. You're comfortable working independently on defined tasks and enjoy the variety of tackling different planning scenarios.

Application Tip
The assessment includes a rolling reforecast exercise from mock actuals and drivers, plus a management reporting pack and a headcount/capex plan. Before applying, brush up on your variance commentary skills—make sure you can clearly articulate the 'why' behind each driver and how it impacts the forecast, not just the math.
