Overview
As a Food Clerk in Back Door Receiving, you will own the flow of inbound product, verifying shipments and stocking displays to keep the store running smoothly. What You'll Do8
- 1Build rapport with customers by greeting them warmly and responding to questions with accurate product knowledge.
- 2Stock product and maintain displays according to merchandising standards, ensuring shelves are full and organized.
- 3Utilize Meijer's handheld scanners and inventory systems to record incoming shipments and update stock levels.
- 4Follow safety and sanitation procedures to meet health codes and keep the back room and sales floor clean.
- 5Verify delivery invoices against actual product, reporting discrepancies to the receiver or manager.
- 6Rotate stock to ensure first-in, first-out freshness, especially in perishable departments.
- 7Assist with price checks and product lookups using the point-of-sale terminal when needed.
- 8Keep the back door area organized, breaking down cardboard and disposing of waste properly.
Requirements8
- 16+ months of retail or grocery experience, preferably in stocking or receiving.
- 2Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, and twist while handling product up to 50 pounds.
- 3Comfort standing for long periods and working in a temperature-controlled environment.
- 4Strong listening and communication skills, face-to-face and virtually.
- 5Willingness to learn and use job-specific technology such as handheld scanners and inventory software.
- 6Detail-oriented and organized, with ability to follow procedures precisely.
- 7Problem-solving competence and eagerness to troubleshoot when discrepancies arise.
- 8Ability to stay calm and work efficiently during peak receiving hours.
