Federal Work-Study Honors Program Assistant, UHD
Overview
You will support Honors Programs at University of Houston-Downtown, engaging with students, faculty, and staff. You'll handle administrative tasks, run MS Teams communications, and assist with recruitment and events. This role sharpens your office and event skills while you earn through Federal Work-Study. You'll directly impact student engagement and program visibility.
What You'll Do8
- 1Answer phones, scan, file, and copy documents, and build Excel spreadsheets for tracking student data.
- 2Pair and supervise mentors and mentees, monitor study hall, and collect records of student volunteer hours and paperwork.
- 3Maintain the program-wide MS Teams platform, posting updates and communicating with Honors students.
- 4Write, photograph, and lay out PR materials for website, brochures, flyers, and hallway bulletin boards.
- 5Organize and run recruitment and orientation activities, including scheduling and logistics.
- 6Assist with special events, from setup to breakdown, coordinating vendors and volunteers.
- 7Track and report student participation data using Excel and MS Teams.
- 8Support daily office operations and respond to inquiries from students, faculty, and the public.
Requirements4
- 1Must be a current UHD student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- 2Must have received a Federal Work-Study award from the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
- 3Preferred: In good standing in the University Honors Program.
- 4Pass a criminal history check per university policy.
