Director Product Counsel - Legal & Tech Strategy
Overview
Candescent seeks a Director Product Counsel to lead legal support for product governance privacy and emerging technology initiatives. This role provides strategic advisory to executive leadership ensuring compliance with evolving financial regulations while driving business growth through robust legal governance.
What You'll Do13
- 1Partner with Product Engineering Security Compliance and Business Stakeholders to deliver strategic legal guidance throughout the product lifecycle
- 2Advise on regulatory requirements affecting digital banking payment solutions customer data artificial intelligence and emerging technologies
- 3Ensure all products and practices adhere to federal state and international laws and industry standards
- 4Translate complex legal concepts into actionable business recommendations and risk based solutions
- 5Lead negotiation and drafting of strategic technology integration partnership and customer agreements
- 6Collaborate with partners to align legal technical operational and commercial objectives in complex transactions
- 7Develop and maintain contract templates legal standards and negotiation playbooks for scalable growth
- 8Head enterprise and product level AI governance initiatives and develop AI policies standards and frameworks
- 9Manage AI inventory and risk assessment processes while partnering with security product and compliance leaders
- 10Serve as key member of AI Governance Committee providing executive and board level reporting on AI governance activities
- 11Create and maintain legal playbooks guidance documents and training materials covering product risk privacy AI governance and commercial contracting
- 12Identify legal and regulatory risks develop mitigation strategies and support enterprise governance initiatives
- 13Lead development of international attorney team foster collaborative culture and provide strategic counsel to executive leadership
Requirements11
- 1Juris Doctor JD from accredited law school active membership in good standing with US State Bar
- 27+ years experience as Product Counsel Technology Counsel Privacy Counsel or Governance Counsel in fintech or regulated financial services
- 3Proven track record supporting technology products SaaS platforms fintech solutions or regulated financial services organizations
- 4Strong contract drafting negotiation and issue spotting abilities with exceptional communication skills
- 5Ability to operate independently manage competing priorities and deliver results with urgency
- 6Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- 7Experience within banking fintech payments digital banking or other highly regulated financial services environments
- 8Deep knowledge of GLBA BSA AML KYC requirements and third party risk management
- 9Significant experience with US and global privacy laws including state privacy regulations and international data protection frameworks
- 10Experience designing or managing AI governance responsible AI or technology governance programs
- 11Prior people leadership experience managing attorneys or legal professionals
