What You'll Do8
- 1Lead, hire, and develop a team of data engineers, analytics engineers, and data scientists, setting the bar for excellence across all crafts.
- 2Own the architecture and roadmap for the data platform, from ingestion through modeled layers that power company-wide reporting and analysis.
- 3Set standards for trustworthy data, including modeling conventions, testing, freshness SLAs, incident response, and dataset ownership.
- 4Partner with engineering on instrumentation and on-chain data ingestion to capture business needs proactively.
- 5Collaborate with analytics leadership to prioritize platform work against key analyses and decisions.
- 6Make build-versus-buy calls across orchestration, transformation, warehouse, and BI, owning cost and performance trade-offs.
- 7Identify and resolve scalability constraints ahead of volume growth to prevent incidents.
- 8Establish operating rhythms for planning, on-call, code review, and documentation to scale the team's capacity.
Requirements11
- 110+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data science, including 4+ years managing teams.
- 2Proven experience leading a multi-disciplinary data team with diverse working styles and definitions of done.
- 3Strong technical foundation to review data models, architecture proposals, and query plans for improvement.
- 4Production experience with Airflow, dbt, or Spark, and cloud warehouses like Databricks or Snowflake.
- 5Track record of raising data quality numbers from unreliable to trusted, with judgment to prioritize fixes.
- 6Ability to balance competing stakeholder needs and say no with clear reasoning.
- 7Solid hiring track record: built a team from ground up, not just inherited one.
- 8Comfortable in a fast-moving environment with frequent business logic changes.
- 9Plus: familiarity with on-chain data ingestion or blockchain infrastructure.
- 10Plus: experience supporting finance or regulatory reporting with high accuracy demands.
- 11Plus: experience in fintech, crypto, prediction markets, or data-intensive financial products.
