Overview
You will prepare meals for residents at SpringRidge, a senior living community in Portland, Oregon, ensuring high-quality dining service that respects resident preferences and medical dietary needs. Our kitchen team serves about 150 residents daily, working under the supervision of the Executive Chef. We are part of Senior Resource Group (SRG), a 37-year innovator in senior living, known for award-winning communities. This role offers $20-$23 per hour, paid training, and career growth in a supportive environment.
What You'll Do8
- 1Prepare meals for residents following menu plans and recipes, adjusting for dietary restrictions (low sodium, diabetic, texture-modified).
- 2Assist in the production of all menu items, including soups, entrees, and baked goods, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner service.
- 3Follow safe food handling procedures, focusing on critical control points (temperature checks, cross-contamination prevention, proper storage).
- 4Maintain a clean and organized work area, including food prep surfaces, equipment, and storage areas, to meet health and sanitation standards.
- 5Coordinate with dining services team to ensure timely meal service for residents, accommodating individual preferences when possible.
- 6Receive and store food deliveries, checking for quality and rotating stock to minimize waste.
- 7Support special events and holiday menus, preparing signature dishes that enhance the resident dining experience.
- 8Document food temperatures and sanitation logs daily, complying with ServSafe standards and state regulations.
Requirements8
- 11+ year of experience in a commercial kitchen or food service role (preferred), including cooking and food preparation.
- 2High school diploma or GED (preferred).
- 3Food Handler Card or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- 4Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- 5Basic knowledge of food safety principles, including temperature control and cross-contamination prevention.
- 6Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and portion control guidelines.
- 7Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- 8Valid work authorization in the United States.
