- 1Lead an independent, externally funded research program focused on cancer biology or translational oncology.
- 2Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the department, the University of Kansas Cancer Center, and the broader academic community.
- 3Participate 25-30% on clinical service within a pathology subspecialty, applying molecular diagnostics and immunohistochemistry.
- 4Contribute to the academic mission through graduate, medical student, and residency education.
- 5Mentor junior faculty, fellows, and residents in research and clinical pathology.
- 6Publish findings in high-impact journals and present at national conferences.
- 7Seek and maintain external funding from sources like NIH and NCI.
- 8Integrate clinicopathologic correlation using the department's high-volume case mix to accelerate translational research.
Requirements8
- 1MD or MD/PhD degree.
- 2Board certified or board eligible in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology.
- 35+ years of research experience in cancer biology or related disciplines, evidenced by a strong publication record.
- 4Independently funded research program or strong potential for sustained external funding.
- 5Eligible for medical licensure in Kansas and Missouri.
- 6Demonstrated excellence in research, with a focus on cancer biology or translational oncology.
- 7Experience in precision diagnostics, including molecular pathology and genomic profiling.
- 8Track record of successful collaboration with clinical and research teams.
