Board Certified Gastroenterologist – VA Northern California Health Care System
Overview
We seek a Board Certified Gastroenterologist to deliver comprehensive gastroenterology services to veterans. This role involves independent patient care, endoscopic procedures, documentation, and quality improvement. What You'll Do11
- 1Provide independent care for patients with general and chronic gastrointestinal conditions
- 2Conduct patient histories physical examinations diagnostic evaluations medication management and treatment planning
- 3Perform routine diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower endoscopy procedures
- 4Review diagnostic testing and coordinate care with appropriate clinical services
- 5Document patient care accurately and timely in VA electronic health-record systems
- 6Support telehealth services including VA Video Connect
- 7Participate in quality assurance process improvement medical staff activities and department initiatives
- 8Assist with clinic and procedure scheduling patient throughput and coverage planning
- 9Supervise or teach gastroenterology fellows when required
- 10Maintain compliance with applicable VA federal state privacy safety and infection-control requirements
- 11Ensure candidates possess all licenses accreditations and certifications required by the applicable scope of practice
Requirements15
- 1Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree
- 2Completion of accredited Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology training
- 3Current unrestricted medical license acceptable for federal credentialing
- 4Demonstrated experience providing gastroenterology care
- 5Ability to perform routine upper and lower endoscopic procedures
- 6Ability to satisfy applicable VA credentialing and privileging requirements
- 7Ability to comply with federal background privacy patient-safety and medical-record requirements
- 8Current BLS and/or ACLS credentials as required
- 9Board certification or board eligibility in Gastroenterology
- 10Experience in a hospital federal healthcare academic or integrated health-system environment
- 11Experience supervising or teaching fellows
- 12Experience with telehealth
- 13Experience with CPRS VistA or similar electronic medical-record systems
- 14Experience with quality assurance or process-improvement programs
- 15Advanced endoscopy skills appropriate to the physician’s training and privileges
