Barista / Cashier, Special Event Pop-Up in Pittsburgh
Overview
You'll own drink preparation and customer experience for a 3-day pop-up event in Pittsburgh, serving matcha lattes, Vietnamese coffee, and specialty foam-topped beverages to hundreds of night market visitors. You'll join a small team of 3-5 baristas and cashiers, working shoulder-to-shoulder at a high-volume booth with real-time order flow. This role stands out for its premium pay ($21.75-$28.39/hour) and the chance to master Asian-inspired drink trends at a signature weekend event.
What You'll Do7
- 1Prepare matcha lattes, Vietnamese coffee, and specialty foam-topped beverages with consistency and speed during peak rushes.
- 2Operate the POS system and process cash and card transactions accurately, balancing the drawer at shift end.
- 3Engage customers with a friendly tone, explain menu items, and recommend add-ons like strawberry cups or taiyaki.
- 4Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation, following food safety standards for ingredients and equipment.
- 5Stock cups, lids, and ingredients throughout the shift, and signal the team when supplies run low.
- 6Assist with booth setup and teardown, including lifting up to 50 lbs and arranging tables and signage.
- 7Support teammates during rushes by taking orders, handing out drinks, or wiping down counters as needed.
Requirements6
- 11+ year of barista or drink-making experience (boba, coffee, or similar) preferred.
- 2Food Handler Card or willingness to obtain before the event date.
- 3Ability to stand for 8+ hours and lift up to 50 lbs.
- 4Comfortable working in a fast-paced outdoor setting with direct customer interaction.
- 5Reliable transportation to Station Square East Lot Parking, 73 East Carson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
- 6Available Sept 18-20, 10am-8pm each day (preference for all 3 days).
