What You'll Do9

  • 1Build a safe, engaging classroom that sparks curiosity and joy in every child.
  • 2Design and lead age-appropriate activities that support cognitive, social, and emotional growth.
  • 3Partner with families daily to share progress, address concerns, and celebrate milestones.
  • 4Collaborate with GLELC team to create a cohesive, supportive educational environment.
  • 5Follow all OSSE, Georgetown, and licensing regulations to maintain a compliant, healthy space.
  • 6Adapt activities to meet diverse needs, ensuring every child feels included and valued.
  • 7Document child observations and use them to tailor instruction and communicate with families.
  • 8Maintain a clean, organized, and safe physical environment, including outdoor play areas.
  • 9Communicate openly with the Director and colleagues to continuously improve classroom practices.

Requirements9

  • 118+ years of age, with high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2Hold a CDA credential, or an Associate's degree or higher in any field, or 60 credit hours in any area, or a state-awarded certificate comparable to a CDA approved by OSSE.
  • 3Pass criminal background check, child protection registry, drug and alcohol screening, and OSSE requirements.
  • 4Lift and carry up to 40 pounds and move freely: sitting, standing, bending, running, and dancing.
  • 5Work outdoors for 2+ hours daily in temperatures from 32°F to 90°F, in various weather.
  • 6Obtain Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 30 days of hire.
  • 7Complete 21 hours of annual professional development to maintain qualifications.
  • 8Preferred: 2+ years as an assistant teacher in a licensed child development center.
  • 9Preferred: Associate's degree or higher in early childhood education or closely related field.
