Assistant Project Manager, Environmental Permitting
Overview
Environmental Permitting leadership role supporting energy projects in New Jersey. Owns permitting schedules, coordinates external consultants, and ensures regulatory compliance from development through construction. Collaborates with clients, project teams, and regulatory agencies to deliver on-time permit submittals and approvals. This role offers a pathway to lead permitting strategies across multiple projects and deliver impactful environmental outcomes.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and maintain permitting schedules, deadlines, and deliverables to ensure on-time submissions and approvals
- 2Coordinate and manage external permitting consultants across multiple projects
- 3Develop and update permit tracking tools and dashboards to monitor progress and flag delays
- 4Participate in regular status meetings with consultants and internal stakeholders, documenting actions and follow-ups
- 5Coordinate with internal teams to obtain information for permit applications
- 6Maintain organized digital filing systems for permit documents and records
- 7Proactively identify and escalate issues or risks related to permitting processes
- 8Support the client in retaining and overseeing third-party permitting resources
- 9Identify applicable federal, state, and local permitting requirements and ensure alignment with project timelines
- 10Ensure regulatory compliance during construction including SWPPP monitoring vegetation management and wetlands protection
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor's or graduate degree in natural resources environmental science environmental planning or related field from an accredited program
- 2Minimum 5+ years experience obtaining environmental permits from various agencies
- 3Experience with Federal New Jersey state and local environmental permitting including US Army Corps of Engineers NJDEP and Green Acres
- 4Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- 5Ability to manage multiple project timelines teams and subcontractors concurrently
- 6Clear verbal and written communication abilities
- 7Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- 8Valid driver's license

$90 - $210k per year
