Overview
We seek an Applied AI Engineer to lead AI agent development at Zello. This role focuses on shipping production-grade AI agents within 90 days while owning their lifecycle. Responsibilities include integrating AI tools with Zello's systems and establishing reusable components. The ideal candidate has 2-5 years of experience building AI solutions and demonstrates operational ownership.
What You'll Do11
- 1Build AI agents and automations end-to-end from scoping to maintenance
- 2Write production Python code integrating LLM APIs for real workflows
- 3Connect AI tools with Zello's Slack Jira HubSpot Snowflake systems via APIs
- 4Monitor deployed agents tracking quality metrics and triage failures
- 5Manage human reinforcement operations and tune agent behavior
- 6Create evaluation harnesses catching regressions and measuring agent quality
- 7Develop reusable components and documentation for future development
- 8Communicate technical progress and outcomes to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- 9Own agent operations including performance monitoring and failure triage
- 10Ship at least three production-grade AI agents within the first 90 days
- 11Integrate AI tools with existing platforms while maintaining proper logging and monitoring
Requirements11
- 15+ years professional experience in software engineering AI engineering or related field
- 2Production Python development demonstrated through tangible projects
- 3Familiarity with LLM APIs including prompt construction context management and tool use
- 4Experience connecting AI tools with Zello's ecosystem via APIs handling authentication rate limits and error cases
- 5Ability to monitor and troubleshoot deployed AI agents in production environments
- 6Proven track record of managing human reinforcement workflows and improving agent quality
- 7Understanding of quality assurance practices and regression detection mechanisms
- 8Experience creating reusable code patterns and documentation that enable team collaboration
- 9Strong communication skills for stakeholder interactions across technical and non-technical audiences
