Adjunct Faculty Biotechnology Manufacturing
Overview
You will deliver biotechnology and biopharmaceutical coursework across multiple modalities at Ivy Tech's Indianapolis campus, reaching 200+ students annually. You will support the Lilly Scholars program and maintain lab readiness for industry-aligned training. Your work directly feeds Indiana's workforce pipeline in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
What You'll Do10
- 1Teach biotechnology and biopharmaceutical courses using Canvas and other technologies, aligning with program outcomes.
- 2Develop syllabi, labs, and course materials for BIOT courses, integrating current industry practices.
- 3Monitor student progress, maintain attendance and grades, and provide academic coaching to support retention.
- 4Collaborate with Lilly project directors to assess lab equipment and update curricula for biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
- 5Participate in statewide curriculum committees to standardize biotechnology labs and coursework.
- 6Support dual credit and K14 partners with labs, curriculum, and secondary faculty credentialing.
- 7Conduct summer workshops to credential faculty and lead Discovery Days at local employers.
- 8Maintain lab equipment and ensure safety compliance with federal, state, and college standards.
- 9Assist in recruiting students to biotechnology and Lilly Scholars programs.
- 10Stay current on automation and system integration technologies relevant to biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
Requirements7
- 1Master's degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, microbiology, or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- 218 graduate semester hours in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, or microbiology.
- 32+ years experience in the field for BIOT 100-103; 5+ years for BIOT 104, 105, 214-218 without master's.
- 4For BIOT 104: ASQ Certified Quality Improvement Associate and Certified Quality Process Analyst.
- 5For BIOT 105: 5+ years relevant industry experience as scientist or production manager, or completed Ivy Tech faculty credentialing workshop.
- 6For BIOT 214-218: 5+ years in regulatory affairs, or current certification from Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society.
- 7Ability to promote an inclusive environment respecting diverse backgrounds.
